The title of this post describes almost to perfection what life as a college student in Hawaii is like: Adventurous! Not a weekend goes by that we don't do something crazy or get to check something off of the bucket list.
Last weekend, we went into Kaneohe for my roommate's birthday. Since none of us have a car, we have to take the bus into town whenever we go. But this time we barley missed the bus going out of Laie, and the next one didn't come for another hour. So, what did we do? Hitchhiked! A great, cheap, and usually easy way to get around the island. Though we are careful who we get rides from, but in Laie, it's almost guarenteed that you'll get picked up by some kind LDS person. Anyway, so a nice, married guy picked us up. He was on the way to the airport in Honolulu, so he offered us a ride. He was a student at BYUH and said how he always hated taking the bus when he was a freshmen, so he would usually hitchhike. Now, he said, he is "paying it forward" for all the times that he got picked up. He told us if we ever get a car to also pay it forward :) He was so kind, and we were so grateful he picked us up.
When we got to the Kaneohe Mall, we went and saw the movie 'Frozen' (3rd time seeing it, and it's still the best movie yet). Then we went out to lunch at a famous burger place over here called, 'Teddy's Bigger Burgers.'
The guy who picked us up in Laie advised us not to try and hitchhike back to Laie, so we took the bus back. Oh, the bus. Public transportation is a great way for people to get around and such, but having to rely on the bus to get you places can sometimes just be difficult. But, a ride is a ride, and I'm grateful that we're able to get off campus almost every weekend and do something fun.

This weekend was actually a pretty chill one. We didn't have any big, crazy hikes or anything planned during the day. Saturday morning/afternoon I went to the beach with some friends. It was the perfect beach day. It was sooo warm, actually kind of hot, and the sky was blue without a cloud in the sky. It was the best day to hang out at the beach.
Later that night, I went out with Amy and a couple other girls and went night swimming! That was an awesome experience. The full moon shimmered on the water and lit it up just enough for it to be almost "majestic-like." It was a little chilly outside that night, so we decided just to grab hands and run in: no holding back! Haha, I can only imagine watching that:
four haoles (white girls), in swimming suits, in the dark, holding hands, screaming, and splashing into the water. Good thing it was dark out ;) We also tried a little yoga on the beach that night, which was pretty fun :)
